1. A Computer Whiz Kid from Silicon Valley

 

Steve Jobs *was born out of wedlock on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, and he was adopted by a lower-middle class couple, Paul and Clara Jobs. When he was a toddler, they moved to Santa Clara County, a place later known as Silicon Valley. In the early years of school, Jobs did not care much for learning, but under the influence of his teacher, he quickly became hooked with school, even skipping fifth grade to go straight to middle school.

 

Jobs became fascinated with the world of electronics and later became friends with a computer freak: Stephen Wozniak. Jobs attended Reed College in Oregon but dropped out after only one semester. At the time, he was deeply interested in Eastern mysticism and adopted strange diets, fasting or eating only fruits. He also traveled to India with a friend to seek enlightenment. After he came back, he began to work on a computer board with his friend Woz, and that led to the origination of the Apple Computer.
